Get ready to kick off the New Year in style with an electrifying day and night of music at Shake & Bake, a sensational new live music event taking place at Brewtown in Upper Hutt, Wellington on Wednesday 3 January 2024.
Featuring a wealth of international and local acts, Shake & Bake promises to be Wellington’s hottest ticket this summer. Set against the backdrop of lush green hills, Brewtown is Wellington’s only craft beer village, is within walking distance of the Upper Hutt train station and is just 40 minutes from Wellington City.
Jumping the ditch for the occasion is Australia’s Ocean Alley. The sun-drenched psychedelic rock heroes are coming off the back of an exceptional year having toured throughout the UK and Europe, the USA and Australia and New Zealand. Their appearance at Shake & Bake will be their first show in Wellington since 2022 when they sold out the Michael Fowler Centre. With their breakthrough single ‘Confidence’ now triple Platinum in Aotearoa and their most recent album Low Altitude Living debuting at #5 on The New Zealand Top 40 Chart, it’s no secret that New Zealand can’t get enough of the boys from the Northern Beaches.
Hailing from California, ska alternative-rock legends Sublime with Rome will also feature at the inaugural Shake & Bake. Formed in 2010, Rome Ramirez and Eric Wilson are Sublime with Rome. Songs such as ‘Wrong Way’, ‘Santeria’, ‘Doin’ Time’, ‘What I Got’ are synonymous with Summer in New Zealand and will have the audience singing along from start to finish.
Aotearoa chart toppers Drax Project are renowned for their infectious pop hooks and energetic live shows. Featuring the vocal and saxophone chops of Shaan Singh, Drax Project have built a reputation to be one of New Zealand’s first class live acts. With new single ‘Disrespect’ just released last Friday the hometown heroes are sure to be a crowd favourite.
Kiwi literal band of brothers Coterie have had an astronomical rise since their debut single ‘Cool It Down’ was released at the end of 2021. The song became a mainstay on New Zealand radio and the band toured New Zealand gaining numerous fans along the way with their authentic brand of pop songs. Their debut album cracked the Top 10 in New Zealand and the Perth based brothers have become household names in Aotearoa. Live, the boys know how to turn it up and Shake & Bake will see the band do just that as they cook up a tasty live set for all fans.
Dutch-New Zealand trio My Baby are no strangers to Summer touring in Aotearoa. Having played countless times here, often off the beaten track, My Baby have a world class live show that highlights their unique sound of blues, rock, psychedelic trance. They truly are a live band and have won legions of fans across New Zealand.
Melbourne band The Grogans have been tearing up stages across the globe this year with tours throughout Australia, the UK and Europe. Having just announced their fourth album Find Me A Cloud the genre transcendent trio put the Shake into Shake & Bake. With energetic live shows that keep fans coming back for more, The Grogans are a perfectly chaotic live act.
Raglan groove merchants Masaya have been carving their own lane since forming in 2019. They released their debut album Chronicles of Youth in 2022 and have built a renowned live show emanating the surf and skate culture of their hometown.
