After much anticipation, SIX60 are making good on their word, returning to Hawke’s Bay this Labour Weekend to kick off summer in style with a massive show at Shed 530 Estate in Hastings.

Happening this Labour Weekend Saturday, October 25, this marks the band’s first Hawke’s Bay performance in three years. Tickets are on sale now via ticketmaster.co.nz.

From the studio to the stage the band will head straight from a three-week writing and recording session this October into their Hastings show, as they continue work on their highly anticipated fifth album. Fans will be treated to a first taste of brand-new material live, with lead singer Matiu Walters sharing

“Since our days at Otago we’ve always shared our music live before the release. The fans have always been so essential to SIX60, it’s a way to give back before the world has the album. We have some surprises for everyone in the Hawke’s Bay and with how long winter seems to have been, a little pre-summer kick off in a vineyard feels long overdue.”

The timing couldn’t be better, a Saturday night on a long weekend, just as the days grow longer, cicadas return, the air warms, and that unmistakable sense of summer optimism sets in.

Joining SIX60 in Hastings is local singer-songwriter Makayla (Ngāti Kahungunu ki Heretaunga, Te Whakatōhea). Signed to SIX60’s own label Massive, she released her single Nature Of Love earlier this year — a fresh R&B-soul track laced with reggae influences, exploring the many challenges and shades of love. With her smooth vocals and undeniable authenticity, Makayla is fast emerging as one of Aotearoa’s most exciting new voices.
